How did you get hooked up with Munn Racing?
A couple of years ago I was driving for Violation and they were actually the bike supplier, so when they got their own team, I jumped on board with them. Before that I worked for DUB Magazine and before that I used to race motorcycles. I drove the truck and I know mechanics so I started helping out here and there.
What’s an average day like out on the road?
Out on the road I drive the truck and when we get to where we are supposed to be I clean the truck inside and out. After that, I get the bike out, rebuild it, get it all cleaned up and ready to go. We’ve been having some bad luck, so we’ve been working pretty hard. Dan, the head mechanic, works in the shop all day so he only has one day to come in and do what he has to do. We go through all the bikes and make sure everything is good, so it’s a pretty big day on Fridays.
What is your relationship like with the riders?
I get along with all the riders pretty good. I help them with the track walk to see if we have better lines, and I also help them with work outs, diets and nutrition. Kind of the whole package I guess. I’m kind of like a coach, nutritionist, and mom, something like that.
Is there a difference for you between outdoors and supercross?
Really there’s no difference for us right now. For me, I do the same thing. I drive to the races and set up and do my thing, that’s pretty much it.
What’s it like to constantly be on the road?
I’m not too happy about constantly being on the road. I get to go home for a week or so, but usually you get kind of over it because you are there all the time. But this week I’m driving up to Washougal, dropping the truck off and then flying home so I’ll have some downtime.
When you do have some downtime on the road, what do you like to do?
I go ride my bicycle or run, and if there’s a track there sometimes I’ll ride the track and then the guys will come out so I will help them with sections and work with them on getting faster and doing more.
What are you going to do once you make it home?
Right now I’m going home and then I’m going to help Sara Petterson. She’s racing X Games, so I’m helping her with supercross as soon as I get to the house. I don’t get to pick my feet up and sit down much. You’re always doing something all the time but I enjoy it!
